We live in a culture that condemns feelings and emotions that are not viewed as “positive”.
Read each statement and become aware of body sensations and any thoughts or feelings that come up.
Pull yourself up from your boot straps.
Calm down, you really need thicker skin.
You are too sensitive.
You get upset too easily
Oh gosh are you upset again? What is it this time?
What came up?
Was there guilt?
Shame?
Anxiety?
When we don’t allow our bodies to do what they naturally do, like experience emotions and feelings, we actually create more suffering for ourselves.
Ok so , my experience with feelings and emotions got me to a place of believing experiencing said emotions were bad, but I feel bad and need help, so what is the solution?
Here’s the not so fun truth
In order to heal, we must look directly at that which makes us suffer. Often this brings up feelings and emotions.So we must experience them in a safe environment.
We cannot heal by avoiding.
This sucks. It’s not fun. But necessary and worth it.
