Life is funny. We live in this little bubble of a family system and those closest to it. We believe that everyone’s life looks just like ours until we are taught otherwise. Schools try to teach us this, but, let’s be honest, we mostly only pay enough attention to make sure we pass the class – if that.
Then we turn 18 and are considered adults and, are thrown into this bigger world .. culture shock.. kind of environment.
This is the place where we learn that not everyone’s parents taught them to change a tire. Not everyone’s parents fed them. Not everyone’s parents cared weather or not they succeeded or failed at school or life, or anything at all.
Not every parent had the luxury of being able to make it to their kids games or award ceremonies.
Not everyone grew up with a worldview of being a Christian, atheist , agnostic, you fill in the blank.
BUT THERE IS ONE THING WE ALL HAVE IN COMMON.
Being Human.
See, no matter what your view on life is, we all hurt, we all experience pain. We all get rejected and feel unworthy and not enough. We all deal with the stressors and joys of this thing we call life. So here’s the deal:
No matter where you stand, politically, religiously , comic book – ly ( I just made that up right now) I don’t care.
Let me explain.
I don’t care what your background is. I don’t care what you do or do not have. I don’t care your social status, economic status, Weather you have 500 cars or you ride your bike. You are human. Therefore, you are worthy. Worthy to experience joy, love , life in abundance and friendship all that experience this life gives us. It’s not my job to judge or say whether your experience in life is right or wrong. But it is my job to meet you where you are, as a counselor, and as a fellow human and help you reach the goals and achieve the change in your life that you are looking for.
Do I have my own set of beliefs and worldview?
Yes . I do . And it works for me, and I experience peace in it. But I am not charged with the mission of pushing my belief’s on you. I am charged with a mission, as a person , friend, counselor, whatever the role , to support and value the other human lives I come into contact with.
I hope you find the peace and life experience you are looking for. If you would like help, I promise there are people out there who will value you for who you are, and not for who they think you should be. Of course , all change and growth requires challenging, but the root of all of it is support and connection.
Be encouraged,
Rachael
