I have erased and re written this blog . So, lets try again.
I want to talk about going through the motions. I was going to call this blog mindful mindlessness. But I think its more than that. I feel like this blog might be choppy so I apologize. I get stuck in my head a lot.
Have you ever found yourself pouring yourself into learning, growing, whether it be personal or spiritual, but once you get going, you begin to function on auto pilot? I think this is normal. You know, like riding a bike, or learning a dance, or to play an instrument. Muscle memory. The intentionality that you had in the beginning lessens and you become desensitized to the feeling, the enlightenment that drew you to it in the first place. Christians experience it. You give your life to Christ and it is new and exciting, then you walk with God for a while, and it becomes second nature to live on auto pilot. To take your relationship with him for granted. He may become one that you only reach out to in times of deep need or crisis.
I think you could look at your situation and fill in the blanks with whatever drives you. Whatever motivates you and drives your spirit. What do you do when you find yourself on auto pilot? What are you taking for granted?
I think the point in this for me is Action.
Once we realize something in our lives is not where we would like it to be, or that we could be functioning in a more healthy way, there is a point in which we have to make a decision to change , but more than that, in order to experience said change, it requires action and dedication on our end.
How many times have you found yourself saying, “man , I wish I was better at ______. ” And then it just stops there. You move on to your next task. But, at some point we have to take responsibility for where we are and take actual steps to make that change. I write this because I am experiencing within myself the sort of “limbo” between seeing that change needs to occur, and actually taking the steps to do it. Its weird. But I hope that this blog is helpful to someone in that they read it and know that someone else is in that same place as they are. Here’s to having compassion and grace over ourselves in the waiting and the encouragement to make the change you are wanting to make. YOU .. WE can do it :).
Be encouraged
