via Daily Prompt: Breakthrough
I discovered a while back, that all I can do is learn and grow. I have, for the majority of my life, been someone who seeks wisdom from people, and believe that you can learn something from anyone. Now , I had to grow in this area because I did, I took everything in from everyone and began to believe that everyone knew how to live my life better than me. So it had its time of understanding what learning and growing truly meant. While I still believe you can learn something from everyone, I am pickier with whom I share the more personal parts of who I am.
Based on the quote above, this leads me to believe that as long as we are living, we have the opportunity to have many breakthroughs. Breakthroughs are great. They are a moment of clarity in what once was a road block in our lives. The moment when we have perceived something to be one way, and then the veil is lifted, and we see truth in a situation. I’ve had many, and will continue to have them. I will list a few.
- That emotions are okay, and feelings are not bad.
- That expressing emotions and the way you feel about something is not good or bad, it just is.
- That people are not out to get me, and are just as human as I.
- Just because something is okay with someone else, does not mean it is , or has to be okay with me.
- Boundaries are doable and positive.
- And the most recent, Thoughts are just thoughts. They don’t have to be entertained or acted upon.
See, I use to believe that I was circling the same issue over and over, and was stuck, and was never going to change. I was co-dependent and insecure as all get out. But you see, that was just a thought, and it took all 6 of these breakthroughs for me to heal and learn that I am strong, I am capable, and I deserve to live the life the Lord has given me abundantly. And pushing people away because of thoughts that I attached feelings to.. was not allowing me to do so.
Breakthroughs happen, but if we do not continue to seek freedom from the moment of clarity, they just stay thoughts. We can choose to not act on them either. But I choose to move forward. The Lord is good.
