I often find myself wishing that there was no conflict, no disagreement and everyone got along and agreed on everything all the time. My mind tells me that life would be calm, less stressful and more enjoyable if life was this way and everyone submitted to this type of “perfection.”
I think this has to do with a couple of things. 1, I have anxiety when there is confrontation, and 2. I sometimes have a false sense of what peace looks like.
Let me explain. To me, sometimes I find myself having the belief that peace will happen when everyone is on the same page. Specifically, when everyone treats each other with respect, is mindful of other people’s needs and stressors. When everything is even and fair.
I am learning that unevenness is beautiful and makes life interesting.
Now, there are injustices that we can get into , but this is not the purpose of the blog.
Think about it. I live in a land that is flat and the ground is even and you can see for miles, it is beautiful. However, when I go to places like New Mexico , or Colorado, and I see mountains and green land scape; I am refreshed and the view is breath-taking.
Does that make my “normal” view of flat land and “boring ” landscape less? No.
The truth is, both are necessary and beautiful. To me, a flat dry landscape turns negative, but to someone else, it may be beautiful and refreshing. And to someone else, hills and mountains may seem monotonous and inconvenient , but to me it is beautiful.
I am learning that differences are beautiful and make life enjoyable.
What parts of your life do you find uneven?
What parts of your life do you need to embrace?
May you be mindful and aware of the differences around you. May it bring you peace.
Be encouraged.
